mt. kilimanjaro climbing
Kilimanjaro National Park is 1668 sq km 641 sq miles. Its located in Northern Tanzania, near the town of Moshi.
For one to get there its 128 km (80 miles) from Arusha. Whichis about one hour’s drive from Kilimanjaro airport.
There are six usual trekking routes to the summit and other more-demanding mountaineering routes.
what one can do while at Mt. Kilimanjaro are:-
- Day or overnight hikes on the Shira plateau.
- Nature trails on the lower reaches.
- Trout fishing.
- Visit the beautiful Chala crater lake on the mountain’s southeastern slopes.
The best period to go to Mt. Kilimanjaro is clearest and warmest conditions from December to February, but also dry (and colder) from July-September.
There are various Huts and campsites on the mountain.
Several hotels and campsites outside the park in the village of Marangu and town of Moshi.
Kilimanjaro, has three volcanic cones, Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira, is a dormant volcano in Kilimanjaro National Park, Tanzania and the highest mountain in Africa at 5,895 metres or 19,341 feet above sea level (the Uhuru Peak/Kibo Peak).
Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and one of the largest extinct volcanos. It can be climbed at any time except in April and May during the long rains. January to March and August to October are the best climbing seasons. We use the Marangu route which is the easiest and the most accessible.
